Location
The Oriental Pearl Tower stands by the bank of Huangpu River. It is in the new and developing Lujiazui district. The tower, surrounded by the Yangpu Bridge in the northeast and the Nanpu Bridge in the southwest, creates a picture of 'twin dragons playing with pearls'. The entire scene is a photographic jewel that excites the imagination and attracts thousands of visitors year-round.

Architecture characteristic

The 468 meters high (1,536 feet) tower is the highest TV Tower in Asia and is the third highest one in the world, it surpassed in height only by towers in Toronto, Canada and Moscow, Russia. However, the most alluring is the tower's unique architectural design that makes the Oriental Pearl TV Tower one of the most attractive places anywhere. The unique design composed of balls and columns makes it become Shanghai's newest landmark and a big magnet for tourists. The designers magically set the eleven beautiful spheres of various sizes up from the green grassland to the blue sky with two giant spheres shining like two rubies. The whole design is rich in poetic and pictorial splendor, which gives the tourist the impression that pearls of various sizes are dropping onto the emerald plate.

The Oriental Pearl Tower composed of three big columns; they are all 9 meters in diameter, the space module, the upper sphere, the lower sphere, five small spheres, tower base and the square. In the tower, there is a double-decker lift, the tower is equipped with three-dimensional lighting installation, which makes the whole tower very colorful and beautiful. So traveling around the Oriental Pearl Tower in the evening, you will enjoy a charming sight.

General introduction:

At the entrance both visitors and their bags must pass Security Check. Once through security visitors are leaded to the tower with military precision by beautiful uniformed Chinese women. These guides provide information in both Mandarin and English. Visitors travel up and down the tower in double-decker elevators that can hold up to fifty people at the rate of seven meters per second.

The first stop is the sightseeing floor at 263 meters. From this viewpoint we can enjoy the mega-city - amazing and beautiful. Even you can see your hotel.
The next stop is the space module, from the space module we can either head back down to the middle deck or down to the sightseeing floor at 90 meters. This floor will give us the opportunity to view the scenery, get a bit of wind in our hair and offer respite from constant Beijing Opera offerings.
