Description:
Jinmao Tower is a comprehensive building offering services for business, hotel, recreation, sightseeing and shopping. Jin Mao Building is a symbolic architecture of Shanghai in marching to the 21st century. Its height is only next to that of the Twin-Tower Building in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the Sears Tower in Chicago, U.S.A. It covers a total construction area of 290,000 square meters and is 420.5 meters high. It has 88 stories above the ground, three stories underground and a six-story annex.

It was designed by the Chicago office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Its postmodern form, whose complexity rises as it ascends, draws on traditional Chinese architecture such as the tiered pagoda, gently stepping back to create a rhythmic pattern as it rises. The tower is built around an octagon-shaped concrete shear wall core surrounded by 8 exterior composite super columns and 8 exterior steel columns. Three sets of 8 two-story high outrigger trusses connect the columns to the core at six of the floors to provide additional support.

The tower has the best elevators. You only need 35 seconds waiting-time to even during rush hours.
